Terms of Use
These terms explain how DreamyNite works and what we ask of everyone who uses it, so the site stays a kind, safe place to read and write stories.
In short: use DreamyNite with a parent's or guardian's permission, keep your account safe, share only stories that are your own, be kind, and never post personal details. Your stories stay yours. We review every story before it is published.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using DreamyNite, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle information. If you do not agree, please do not use DreamyNite. If you are using DreamyNite for a child, you agree to these terms on their behalf.
2. Who can use DreamyNite
DreamyNite is made for children and for the parents, guardians and teachers who read and write with them.
- Children should use DreamyNite with the permission and guidance of a parent or guardian.
- A parent or guardian is responsible for their child's account and for how it is used.
- Parents can choose a Parent account; children use an Explorer account.
3. Your account
- You can join with a name, email address and password, or with Continue with Google. Either way, your account is stored with DreamyNite, and signing in with Google also follows Google's own terms.
- Please give accurate details, and keep your password private. Do not share your account or use someone else's.
- Choose a display name that is friendly and does not reveal personal details such as your full name, school or address.
- If you think someone else has used your account, tell us through the Help Desk straight away. Changing your password signs you out on every other device.
4. Your stories and content
Your stories stay yours. When you write a story, draft, comment or anything else on DreamyNite, you keep the rights to it.
So that we can run the site, you give DreamyNite permission to store, review, format, display and share what you publish on DreamyNite, and to show it in places such as the story library and the home page. This permission is free of charge and ends when you delete the content or your account, except where a copy has already been shared with other readers or must be kept by law.
Please only share work that is your own, or that you have permission to use, and make sure it follows the community rules below.
5. Community rules
DreamyNite is for young readers, so everything shared here must be suitable for children. When you use DreamyNite, please:
- Be kind. No bullying, teasing, threats or hurtful words about anyone.
- Keep personal details private. Never post a home address, phone number, school, email address or photo of yourself or anyone else.
- Keep it child-friendly. No violence, scary or grown-up content, rude language, or anything hateful.
- Be original. Do not copy other people's stories or pictures and call them your own.
- Play fair. Do not spam, advertise, try to break the site, collect other people's information, or get around our safety features.
If you see something that breaks these rules, please tell us through the Help Desk.
6. Review and moderation
Our team reviews every story before it is published, and can remove any story or comment afterwards. We may edit formatting, ask for changes, decline a story, or remove content at any time if it breaks these terms or is not right for young readers. We will try to explain why, but we do not have to publish anything.
7. Our content
The DreamyNite name, logo, design, and the stories, pictures, quizzes and other material we provide belong to DreamyNite or to the people who gave us permission to use them. You are welcome to read and enjoy them for personal, non-commercial use. Please do not copy, sell or republish them without our written permission.
8. Pausing or closing accounts
You can ask us to close your account at any time through the Help Desk. We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or at a parent's or guardian's request. When an account is closed, it is hidden straight away, and its stories can be deleted on request, as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. The service
DreamyNite is provided free of charge. We work hard to keep it running smoothly, but we may change, add or remove features, and the site may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We will try to give notice of big changes.
10. Limits of our responsibility
DreamyNite is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from using, or being unable to use, the site, or from content shared by other users. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as DreamyNite grows. The date below shows when they last changed. If a change matters, we will say so on the home page before it takes effect. By continuing to use DreamyNite after a change, you accept the updated terms.
