Parents Guide

Welcome, grown-ups

DreamyNite is a place for children to read bedtime stories, try story quizzes and write tales of their own. This guide explains how it all works.

What children can do

Read

Browse the Storyboard for illustrated tales. Reading a story to the end earns progress.

Play the Quiz Quest

Short quizzes about the stories earn stars and keys. Scores are worked out on our side, so they are always fair.

Write

The Magic Pencil helps children write their own story and send it to the Story Club. Every story is read by our team before it is published.

Accounts

Children can join as an Explorer, and grown-ups can join as a Parent. Signing up needs a name, an email address and a password. You can create one account per child, or share a parent account and read together.

To leave, use Log Out in the account menu. If you would like an account and its stories removed, ask us through the Help Desk.

Questions parents ask

Is DreamyNite free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy and no adverts.

Who can see what my child writes?

Stories are private until they are sent to the Story Club. Once a story is approved by our team it appears on the Storyboard with the author name your child chose, so we suggest a first name or a made-up name.

Can other children message my child?

No. DreamyNite has no private messages. Readers can leave comments on stories, and our team can remove any comment.

My child forgot their password.

Send us a message from the Help Desk with the email address on the account and one of our team will help you get back in.

How much time should my child spend here?

That is up to you. Stories take a few minutes to read, so they fit nicely into a bedtime routine: a story, a quiz, then lights out.
