A safe place to read, write and imagine
DreamyNite is made for children, so safety is not a feature we add on. Our checks help, but they cannot replace a trusted grown-up: stay nearby, talk about what your child sees, and report anything that feels wrong.
What we do
Every club story is read first
When an explorer sends in a story, a person on the DreamyNite team reads it before anyone else can. Stories that are not right for young readers are sent back with a note, not published.
We can act quickly
Our team can remove any story or comment and pause any account at any time. If something slips through, tell us and it will be looked at.
We ask for very little
An explorer needs a name and an email address to join. We do not ask for a home address, phone number, school or photo. See Privacy Policy for the full list.
Grown-ups control the handoff
On a shared device, children enter through their picture and parents enter through the Grown-ups button. Keep the parent PIN private, and always switch readers or sign out before handing the device to someone else.
Tips for explorers
- Use a made-up name or just your first name. You never need your full name to write here.
- Never share your full name, address, school, phone number, password or photos in a story or comment.
- Be kind. If a comment makes you feel sad or uncomfortable, close it and tell a grown-up.
- Only submit stories you wrote yourself. Copying someone else's work is not fair to them.
- Never move a conversation to another app or keep an online secret. Tell a trusted grown-up immediately if anyone asks.
- If a story or comment worries you, stop reading, show it to a grown-up and report it through the Help Desk.
Tips for parents and carers
- Sit with younger children the first time they write a story, and read it together before they send it.
- Keep your account password and family PIN private. Do not let a child use the parent PIN as their own password.
- On a shared device, check who is selected before reading, use Switch reader when changing children, and close the grown-up area when finished.
- Ask your child about what they read and write. It is the best safety tool there is, and no automated check replaces supervision.
There is more in the Parents Guide.
Something does not feel right?
Use the Help Desk and choose Safety concern. Tell us which story or comment it is and what worried you. If a child is in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
